(2024)
Dear visitor,
Two years ago, I started my research ‘TSO2-SI’ and used observing the integration mechanisms to determine basis points of Neokolonialseme hiden in everyday acts and micro aggressions.
To describe the correlation closely I reach out to different communities with imbedded knowledge on the subject. To make things easier to talk about I made a framework of artistic residency providing us with space that we could arrange as we like, providing us with food for a day and 25 kg of rope to get our hands busy and have something to ‘hold on’ when our oven narratives start feeling to have in our through’s. That was last year.
Somewhere at that time I contacted Pianofabriek offering to exabit the outcomes of our rope-conversations. This expo dus. That was last year. Before October 7th and before we knew that Gaza would explode in our faces again, before I knew that this will trigger all my personal war traumas and bring the fears back making that every image, every news from Gaza feels like it is happening to me and my family all over again. So expo that you see today is response to this actuality that, I belive, we can’t look away from.
This is how expo should look like:
On your left-hand side you can see a school bank and the ‘racial-rainbow’ I painted to re-educate educators in Flemish basis schools. To tell them never again to talk to children with a word ‘neem nu het huidskleur’ referring on color ‘white’…
This social sailorman ropes were spoused to carry QR code’s which will lid you to stories if the people who made this Knot with me. Further you should see a rope net used to cultivate flowers from our home countries.
On the other side the ‘import’ pallet referring on West importing people from the East to do the least interesting jobs. Further you should of see photos and the names of the participants in the rope workshop and afterword’s a video of us ‘cowering Leopold II ‘away at Dansand festival last year. But instead, in joint decision, we change the expo.
We jointly decide to move our own narratives around a make space for that what is acute and urged now. Not because our stories or other wars are less impotent, no. But because what is happening in Palestine now is, fingers crossed, the last West-driven colonies and the closer of Imperialism. Because we are aware that what we do, or not do today about and for Palestine, it will be our deeds for all times. It is history that is written every day in our individual lives and there are moments when collective histories are written.
This is one of those moments.
So now you know what the expo should have been I will guide you through what it has become.
